Do you feel conflicted and confused about your purpose and meaning in life? Are you struggling with the relationship that you have with yourself and others? To live is to experience human struggle; human struggle within ourselves and with others. Navigating life’s challenges and problems in uncertain times can feel lonely and overwhelming. Thoughts, emotions and behaviours make it difficult to live in the present, leaving us anxious and unsettled about the future. Although we cannot choose our struggles, every human being has within themselves the power and freedom to navigate their pathway forward.
Together, in a supportive and inclusive space, we will work collaboratively toward identifying your needs and developing a plan. Through skills building, using resources, and evidence-based therapy models, you will be able to access new understandings of yourself, leading to a balanced, intentional and meaningful life full of hope.
With over 30 years of experience in education, through a lens of advocacy and equity, I have worked with children, families, colleagues and the community to meet the unique individual needs of students in areas such as academics, learning skills, self esteem, behaviour, and mental health. I am keen to work with helping professionals, parents, women, the LGBTQ+ community and seniors. The COVID-19 pandemic has brought forth new mental health challenges, including stress, loneliness, anxiety and depression. I am here to listen, support and share in our common humanity - life!

I am a Registered Psychotherapist currently working exclusively with the LGBTQ2S+ community. My approach to therapy involves working with my clients to identify areas of difficulty in their lives, and helping them to move towards their values. I emphasize a client-centred approach, recognizing that each individual is unique and thus requires unique treatment and care. My sessions are done over Zoom, a secure video conferencing platform, so that my clients can see me in the comfort, safety, and convenience of their own homes – no more running around trying to find time to get to therapy!
I have experience providing support to the LGTBQ2S+ community, and strive to provide a safe, supportive, non-judgmental space for you to discuss your difficulties, explore any confusing or difficult territory, and get to know yourself a little better. As an ally, I hope to provide you with the support to make any necessary changes that will help you move forward in your life.
In addition to general therapy or counselling sessions, I also offer consultation and support sessions to help you on your journey. Consultation sessions are available to the trans community for those who want to learn more about transitioning, but who do not feel they could benefit from therapy at this time. Supportive consultation sessions are designed for friends and family members of the LGBTQ+ community to learn more about how they can support their friends or family members.

Are you struggling to adjust to a new reality, a chronic illness, a terminal illness diagnosis, infertility or pregnancy loss, a change in your family, profession, or home? Are you a caregiver for someone you love? Are you experiencing grief following the loss of a loved one? When the challenges in life feel overwhelming, it can help to talk with someone.
Going through my own journey as a caregiver to someone living with a chronic illness, it struck me how overwhelming it feels when so much is out of our control. Some circumstances can’t be changed. At that time in my life, I was hesitant about the idea of therapy. I am extremely analytical and didn’t see how therapy could help, but I decided to give it a try. I learned that therapy isn’t about “fixing”, but about discovering ways to make peace, and even find joy, in the face of unchangeable challenges. It’s not about taking pain away, but reducing suffering. These experiences in my life inspired me to begin a new career at a later stage in life. I feel great honour in walking alongside people during the most challenging steps of their journey. I work with adults of all ages, faiths, genders, and sexual orientations and am passionate about working with seniors and older adults, as well as people like I was, who aren’t sure if therapy is right for them.
Professional Background
I am a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) as a practicum student working towards a Masters of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University. Psychotherapy is a second career for me following many years working in schools supporting students with special needs. When my first child was born I took time away from my career to be a mom, and a caregiver for a loved one. My journey to embracing therapy was a reluctant one, but one that I am incredibly grateful for, as it has helped me learn that therapy can help in ways that I never understood until I was there.
Inspired by my own experiences, and the experiences of those around me, I have sought out training and volunteer experiences in supporting people with chronic illnesses, long term COVID, infertility and pregnancy loss, hospice, grief, medical assistance in dying (MAiD), hospice, life transitions, neurodiversity, depression, and anxiety.
On a Personal Note…
I am a wife and mother to two young children. Outside of therapy you’ll often find me in nature with my family on a hike, camping, kayaking, or taking photos. I am an enthusiastic nature and wildlife photographer. I play several instruments, none very well, and every now and then you might find me swing dancing. I love to bake and believe that brownies are better than cookies!
I believe that the choice to explore therapy is a brave one, and that if we work together, your strengths and wishes will guide the work we do. Each person is unique, and the path they travel is unique. I invite you to join me in a free consultation to discover whether I might be the right person to walk this path with you.
